Slow Down, Move Over

State law requires drivers approaching a stationary emergency vehicle or a recovery or repair vehicle, including tow trucks, to slow down and vacate the lane next to the stopped vehicle, if they are able. If drivers are not able to move over, they are required to slow down and be prepared to stop.

As some may have seen or heard about the slow down and move over law or have even participated in meetings that speak about this law. We are strong advocates of this law. Why? A staggering and sad statistic is that the towing industry loses an operator every six days. The towing industries lose more tow truck operators than law enforcement, fire department, and highway workers combined. We strongly encourage the education of the slow down and move over law as they were a brother, sister, husband, wife, father, mother, son or daughter. Each life is just as important as our own. So please Slow down and Move over.
